Stained Glass Toddler Art

I ❤ to decorate my house, in general and for the holidays. I found this cute idea for 'Stained Glass Art' on Pinterest and now I am addicted to making my toddler do different versions of it. Not only are these super easy and fun for the little ones to make, they also make a cute decoration for your home.

The great thing is it can totally be adapted to fit whatever season/holiday is coming up next.  We've done two of these, a snowflake (for winter) and a heart (for Valentine's Day).  I am thinking of doing an Easter Egg version next.  You could do a Shamrock for St. Patrick's Day, a Flower for Spring, a flag for 4th of July and so many more!


Materials Needed:

• Clear Contact Paper 
• Multi-colored tissue paper (Blue/Whites for Snowflake, Red/Pink/Whites for Heart, Green/Whites for Shamrock, etc.)
• Black Construction Paper
• Painter's Tape

Instructions:

Cut out a piece of contact paper the size you want (mine are about 12 inches x 18 inches for the Snowflake and 12 inches x 12 inches for the Heart).

Cut out the outline shape out of black construction paper (rectangle - I did mine in four pieces and snowflake or heart shape).

Cut out LOTS of squares/rectangles of the multi-colored tissue paper.

Use the painters tape to hold down the contact paper, non-sticky side down.  Peel off the backing, starting at the top and replacing the painters tape as you go.

Place the black construction paper outline on the contact paper.

Now the most difficult part - Instruct toddler to place the tissue paper squares within the black outline.

Stick your toddler's 'Stained Glass' artwork to a sunny window.  I also trimmed the excess contact paper round the outline leaving a small amount to trap everything in.
